Gravesend Borough Market refurbishment
A full refurbishment of the historic market to create new stalls, cafe and a food hall.
The market originally had roof lights, however these had been lost. Along with insulating the roof, the sky lights were reinstalled, bringing much needed light into the market hall.
Permanent stalls were installed around the edge of the market, and the centre left open for pop up stalls and events.
The old fish market was opened up with glazing on the corner and food stalls were installed for pop up restaurants.
The market now frequently holds events and celebrations related to the local area – a celebration of Pocahontas saw the market hall decorated with feathers and at Christmas with leaves.
The project was completed whilst at Clay Architecture.
